We read in Matthew 4 that Jesus was led into the desert and fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted before He began His ministry.
I suppose that was Jesus’s way of getting set and focused for the fight ahead.
I am thankful that God has not asked me to do that!
However, He has asked me to get set for the fight ahead.
Jesus’s ministry started right after leaving the desert and He began to preach “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”
What I get from that is the time had come to get busy. To do what He had been sent to do.
So I needed to be reminded of what I have been sent to do—to know Him and make Him known.
God was saying to me it’s time to get back in the fight. Our community needs people who are willing to fight for their hearts of those who live here.
God reminded me that it’s time to announce once again “repent of your sins and turn to God, for the kingdom of heaven is near!”
All too often, the problem is that we know what to say, but we lack the courage and the boldness to say it.
I really believe in friendship evangelism and in lifestyle evangelism, it is very important to love people right where they are.
However, it is imperative that at some point we voice the timeless truth: “You need Jesus for salvation.”
We must speak what we say we believe. So what do you say?
Will you be bold and courageous enough to tell one person this week about the love and the saving grace of Jesus? I plan to tell at least five!
I love you all,
Go give em heaven,
Pastor Scott
